The After School program provides an opportunity to merge the rigor and instruction that occurs during the regular school day during after school hours. The goal is to increase student achievement for students and broaden the base of support for education in a safe, constructive environment.   The After School Program at WAYS provides a safe and educationally enriching alternative to neighborhood play which may at times become unsafe.

In addition to tutoring, the After School Program at WAYS provides a lively atmosphere complete with clubs such as Girl Scouts, Drill Team, Princess Club and Noble Men and GATE.

The atmosphere of learning prevalent in the after school program is reinforced by standards-based instruction that is developed through the Professional Learning Communities Model.
Instructors in the program are experienced highly qualified teachers who have been provided professional development that encourages techniques such as homogeneous and heterogeneous grouping, differentiation, and project based learning.
